The Caldwell County School Board is moving forward with making repairs to the high school track, and starting the negotiation process and purchasing procedures to acquire land adjacent to the baseball fields.
At Monday night’s meeting, Superintendent Jeremy Roach said the track at the high school is in need of repair, and due to its current condition the district cannot hold competitions. He says they have funds previously secured to cover the project.
click to download audioHe added they anticipate the track repair project to be completed in about a month, which he and board chairman Tim Kennaday noted is in bad shape.

The board unanimously approved the track repair.
In other action, Superintendent Roach asked the board to enter into negotiations with Youth, Inc. to purchase American Legion land adjacent to the baseball field to use for extra parking.
click to download audioRoach said the Youth Inc. quoted an initial cost of $20,000 but the land would need to be reappraised.

Prior to the start of the board meeting, Kennaday asked the community to remember the family of Caldwell County High School senior Matt Brewer who passed away Friday after being seriously injured in a wreck last Tuesday evening.

The next regularly scheduled school board meeting will be at 6:00 Monday evening, April 18.
