Princeton Optimist Club And WPKY Excited About New Radio Auction Changes


The Princeton Optimist Club and WPKY Radio made a joint announcement Wednesday morning about exciting changes coming this year to the radio auction.
Edge Media Group President/CEO Beth Mann and owner of WPKY said the radio auction is an opportunity to make a change because the community needs some positivity after COVID-19 and a devastating tornado that hit Caldwell County in December.


click to download audioMann added with no opportunities to help with the fundraising efforts the last two years, they are happy to announce their changes focusing on their vision of “New in 22”.

This year, she said, they want to focus on where the money raised over the years has been spent. George Kilgore with the Optimist Club said the new focus will hopefully renew support to benefit this community and Lyon County.


click to download audioOne of the changes you will see this year is the date of the radio auction, which will be in June.


click to download audioThe second change is a new venue at a central location downtown that will have comfortable seating and air conditioning.


click to download audioItems on the table will have a minimum bid value of $22, meaning they are asking for items to Auction that are worth that amount or they will combine items to meet this level. Starting bids will be a minimum of $10 with a minimum increase of $2.00. In addition, Kilgore and Mann said another change is they will be placing some items up for sale on the WPKY Deals Store where bids will be made online.
