A Dawson Springs man was arrested for possessing meth after a traffic stop in Providence Thursday night.
Providence Police Officers Eric Elder and Jay Riley Edwards report Joseph Scott Guizio was stopped around 9:00 on KY 109 North of Providence for speeding at 81 mph, no tail lights, and improper passing.
Police say when Guizio was searching for proof of insurance officers observed a bag containing a large bag of methamphetamine protruding from his sweatshirt pocket.
Guizio was taken into custody and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) 2nd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure of owner to maintain required insurance 2nd offense, improper passing, no tail lights, reckless driving, and speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit.
According to police, Guizio was subsequently released from jail Wednesday morning around 10:00 on administrative release without having to post bond.
Currently, Guizio is reportedly on felony diversion for possession of meth from Union County Circuit Court.
