School Board Awards Bids For Track Repair, Elementary Renovation


The Caldwell County school board approved bids at Monday night’s meeting for the track repair and the elementary school renovation project.
Superintendent Jeremy Roach said the district received only one bid for the track repair from Murray Paving. He added with all alternates the total bid was $283,750 which he noted was a little bit higher than the initial estimate.


click to download audioHe added this will include repairs to the long and short jump surfaces.

Superintendent Roach recommended the lowest bid from Pinnacle Construction, Inc. for an overall base bid with all alternates for the elementary school renovation project for an amount of $6.79 million which was under the original budgeted estimate of $7 million.

Architect Andrew Owens with Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects said this was a great result with construction prices continuing to escalate.
Roach then explained what the base bid with all alternates includes.

click to download audioThe post-bid revised BG-1 to reflect the base bid with the alternates in addition to the bonding costs was also approved.

The board also unanimously accepted the commissioning proposal for the amount of $19,295 and the testing and balancing proposal for $25,340 recommended from Marcum Engineering, who Roach noted is the engineer on the elementary school project. He then explained the proposals.

The next regularly scheduled school board meeting will be held at 6:00 Monday evening, May 16.
