Five students at Caldwell County schools have been selected to participate in the Governor’s Scholar Program along with two students selected to participate in Commonwealth Honors Academy through Murray State University this summer.
Superintendent Jeremy Roach recognized each Governor’s Scholar student with a Certificate of Achievement at Monday night’s school board meeting.
click to download audioThe Governor’s Scholars Program was established in 1983 and provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience. Students must complete an application and compete with others from across the state. Those selected attend the program free of charge.
Superintendent Roach also presented a Certificate of Achievement to Anna Hughes and Clara Ortt who were selected for the MSU Commonwealth Honors Academy.
Upon completion of CHA, students will receive six hours of university credit; have the opportunity to take tuition-free university courses at MSU during their senior year; and will be awarded a four-year, $2,000-per-year housing scholarship to attend MSU.
