Man Charged With Theft Of Boat Motor In Livingston County


A Smithland man was arrested after an investigation into the theft of a fishing boat and motor at Green Turtle Bay Marina.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department reports 32-year old Shawn Weston Brandstetter was charged with one count of receiving stolen property over $1,000 but less than $10,000.
Deputy Bobby Beeler opened an investigation after the victim reported the theft of a commercial fishing boat and motor were stolen in the area of the marina on April 5, and the boat was later found adrift missing the motor. The deputy later located the stolen motor at a residence near Smithland where information was reportedly collected that led to the arrest of Brandstetter. He was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
According to the sheriff’s office, other suspects have been identified and additional arrests will be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
