The Cave-in-Rock Ferry has stopped operation due to high winds.
District 1 spokesman Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the ferry halted service around 11:30 Tuesday morning due to winds out of the west southwest at 24 miles per hour with gusts up to 29 miles per hour. He indicates when the wind is out of the west or southwest in can interact with the current and create choppy conditions in the Ohio River.
At this time, it’s unknown when the ferry will resume operation.
