The City of Dawson Springs has been awarded a historic revitalization grant through the National Park Service.
The Pennyrile Area Development District (PeADD) announced Wednesday that the City of Dawson Springs was awarded a $750,000 Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant. Officials say the city and the Dawson Springs Historic Preservation Commission will utilize these funds to develop a program to assist owners of qualifying historic buildings in and around downtown Dawson Springs with structural rehabilitation and revitalization activities, including repairs related to damage from the December tornado. The Pennyrile Area Development District assisted in the development and submission of the grant application.
This project is supported through the Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant Program funded by the Historic Preservation Fund as administered by the National Park Service, Department of Interior.
The National Park Service announced Wednesday $7.275 million in Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grants were awarded to eleven recipients in ten states to support economic development through the preservation of historic buildings in rural communities across the country.
