Bright Life Farms in Caldwell County is among 100 communities in 34 states that has been awarded a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance to fund neighborhood improvement projects. In just ten days this spring, officials with State Farm Insurance indicate 88,000 people cast more than 2 million votes in support of their favorite causes, with the top 100 vote-getting causes receiving a $25,000 grant to benefit their community.
Barkley Hudson State Farm Insurance in Princeton submitted Bright Life Farms for the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Grant. Bright Life Farms is the only organization in the area that provides a home for mentally or developmentally challenged adults ages 18 and older. The submission for the grant from Barkley Hudson State Farm stated the grant would allow Bright Life Farms to continue this special program for our community. It also stated Bright Life Farms has touched so many residents and families over the years, and the grant would help continue to provide appropriate housing and staffing to the residents, as well as those that are waiting on an opening.
State Farm Assistant Vice President Rasheed Merritt said in a release that State Farm is happy to celebrate its 100th anniversary by providing these 100 causes with grant money to help them address the needs in their communities. He went on to say that State Farm looks forward to seeing the impact these $ 25,000 grants will have.
According to State Farm, 4,000 cause submissions were accepted in February. The State Farm Review Committee selected the top 200 finalists and public voting determined the 100 grant winners. In the 11 years of the program, nearly 500 causes have received a total of $12.5 million to enact change in their communities.
