Northside Baptist Church hosted Master Illusionist Matt Adams for a special kick-off program for their Vacation Bible School to be held this week. Adams who is from Hunstville, Alabama has traveled the world in over 30 countries presenting his program and the message of Jesus Christ. Cindy Long who serves as Director of Children’s Ministry at Northside stated she had read about Adams in the Baptist Press and how he had shared Christ in India and other countries and started talking to him in January and booked him to come to Princeton. Cindy felt “this would be a unique way to share Christ here in our area too ‘.
He started the program in front of around 175 people in attendance by throwing frisbees out into the audience and whoever caught one was asked to join him on stage. Brenda Calhoun was one of the lucky ones to be chosen to join him on stage to flip a coin. Brenda said she was so nervous when she got up there that she didn’t know if she could even flip the coin so she just kind of tossed it. As she flipped the coin the audience either raised their hand or lowered it guessing if it would be heads or tails. Through this process, it finally left one person who also join them on stage. The person who was left standing and joining them on stage was Megan Ball. There was a paper that had been sitting there that Adams asked Ball to read. The paper actually described Ball and the clothes she was wearing. Ball shared that was so bizarre how he had written down details about her and the clothes she was wearing way before the program began and she was chosen. She added he just picked her randomly out of the audience and she is so glad they came. Ball’s husband Adam Ball added this show was impressive. He noted it was such a positive and uplifting show to attend. Mr. Ball said he was glad they brought their children ages 7 & 10 to the program.

Frankie Brown was another one who was chosen to participate in the program, his task was to ring a bell any time during the program. After Brown was told what to do, Adams wrote down a time inside a box and it was given to Jennifer Miller to keep until Frankie decided to ring the bell. After he later rang the bell at 6:44 they were both called up to the stage and the box was opened and it indeed had 6:44 written down as the time Adams had predicted that he would ring it. After the program, Brown said it was good entertainment and anyone would have enjoyed it. Brown added that he would have preferred not to be on stage but it wasn’t too bad.
Cindy Long stated after the program that Adams was one of the nicest people to work with and she was pleased with the program and his presentation of Christ. Brenda Calhoun added it was a good program and he connected well with the kids about Christ. Frankie Brown summed it up by stating it was a good kick-off for Vacation Bible School and it is good to see Churches start back with Vacation Bible School after Covid. Vacation Bible School will be held at Northside Monday through Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm each night.
