More sponsors of the Platinum Partner Program were added during Friday night’s Princeton Optimist-Kiwanis Club Radio Auction.
Optimist Club President George Kilgore says Shirley Gray donated $500 in honor of Twyman and Betty Boren who were instrumental in the early years of WPKY. He says Gray worked for the couple at the radio station for many years and to this day they remain close friends.
In addition, Kilgore says the current owner of WPKY, Beth Mann, announced that she had allowed employees to have a casual dress day Friday by making a contribution to the auction which was close to $500. He says Mann matched that amount and made a $1,000 donation to the Platinum Partner Program.
