Caldwell County Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach recently gave an end-of-the-year report highlighting some of the achievements in the district during the 2021-2022 school year.
During his first year as superintendent of the school district, Dr. Roach said there were a lot of good things that happened including 19 local businesses that donated and supported the opening day of school.
Taking a look back at academics, Dr. Roach noted the district’s ACT scores improved and the Literacy Professional Development Program was reinstated.
click to download audioHe added the district had four Governor Scholar Program students, one Governor School of the Arts student and one Governor School of Entrepreneurship student participating in the programs this summer.
According to Roach, the district also moved forward with some improvement projects at the elementary school, technology upgrades, intervention at schools, hiring extra support staff, provided COVID mitigation and summer transportation.
Dr. Roach said there was a big push for students in arts during the school year. He said the 6th – 8th-grade students in Beginning Band had a successful year.
click to download audioHe added the combined 8th – 12th grade Jazz Band and the High School Band also performed well in competitions.
click to download audioAccording to Roach, five students were selected for the Kentucky Art Education Pennyrile-Purchase Region art exhibit and at the end of the year, they had over 200 people in attendance at the Arts & Music Festival which will be held annually going forward.
Roach also pointed out the district made some headway in academic achievement for 3rd through 8th grade.
click to download audioIn addition, he said the school had its first student graduate with an associate’s degree with the district’s partnership with Madisonville Community College, the middle school earned the 2021-2022 BETA School Merit Award, and the FFA teams won some state awards.
