Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved a resolution that authorizes the West Kentucky Workforce Board to provide employment services to the county.
The West Kentucky Workforce Board is a non-profit organization responsible for managing local workforce development projects throughout the Purchase/Pennyrile regions, in conjunction with local elected officials. Tammy Hyde with the workforce board told magistrates they are required by federal law to have an inter-local agreement for workforce consortium with the counties they serve.

click to download audioThe resolution was approved by a 4-0 vote with District 1 Magistrate Elbert Bennett absent from the meeting.
In other new business, magistrates approved the appointments of Kathy Svoboda, Dean Hughes, and Mary Mac Dyer to the George Coon Public Library Board.
Even though dry conditions continue across the area, Fire Chief Brent Francis stated during department reports that the county is currently not under a burn ban. He says there haven’t been many problems with the dry conditions, other than a few straw and hay fields.

During magistrates’ comments, Brent Stallins who represents District 3, praised the volunteers for all of their efforts since the December tornado and said the community owes them a big thank you.
click to download audioDistrict 4 Magistrate Jeff Simms added it’s great to see there is a lot of rebuilding going on in his area and a lot of hope. He also reminded tornado victims to sign up with the Caldwell County Long-Term Recovery Group.
