Princeton Man Charged After Child Found In Roadway

Joshua Pavey/Caldwell County Jail

A Princeton man was arrested after police say a small child in his care was found unattended in the roadway Monday night.
According to Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison, officers responded to the area of Mechanic Street and Garrett Street shortly after 9:00 p.m. regarding a report of a small child unattended in the roadway that witnesses stated was almost struck by a vehicle.
Officers reportedly made contact with the child and an investigation revealed the father, 31-year old Joshua E. Pavey, was responsible for the care of the child. Assistant Police Chief Allison reports a further investigation determined that Pavey was under the influence of intoxicants and was unaware that the child had left the residence.
Pavey was taken into custody and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
Police say the child was released to family members.
