Fredonia Valley Parade Grand Marshal Named

The Fredonia Activities Committee has selected the grand marshal of the Fredonia Valley Parade coming up next month.
The committee has announced on social media that resident Michelle Vinson Travis has been elected grand marshal. Michelle reportedly attended Fredonia Elementary School until 6th grade and was the last 5th grader to receive a diploma.
According to information from the committee, Michelle has been married to Jay Travis for 23-years and they have two children, Jayce who is 25 and Drake who is 16. Michelle is the daughter of Dwayne and Beverly Vinson of Fredonia. She has been employed at the U.S. Post Office for the past 18 years as a City Carrier.
In addition, Michelle has been an active member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where she has served on the nominating and pulpit committees. She has also been the Activities Leader, helped in Vacation Bible School and worked with the youth along and other church activities.
Michelle is the chairman of the Fredonia Activities Committee and has helped with the Fredonia parades since they started several years ago. Also, she has planned concerts, fall festivals, and Yard of the Month. Additionally, Michelle has helped to have collections for those that have lost things from fires, tornadoes, and more, and tries to help with getting items they may need. She has also helped with other activities in Fredonia.
The Fredonia Valley Parade will be held Friday evening, August 12, at 6:00 at the old Fredonia school. Line-up will begin at 5:30.
