If you plan on traveling to Livingston County this week, be aware a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to start asphalt paving along two sections of U.S. 60 in the Smithland area on Wednesday.
District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says motorists should be alert for paving activities at the new U.S. 60 Cumberland River Bridge at Smithland from July 27 through about August 3. He indicates there could be minor delays as the new section of the roadway is tied in with the existing approaches on both sides of the bridge.
The second paving project will be along U.S. 60 in downtown Smithland from near the KY 937/Wilson Avenue intersection extending eastward to the Walnut Street intersection near Thompson’s Grocery, a distance of about 1/2 mile. Todd says this work is expected to start around August 5th and continue through about August 10th. He indicates motorists should be alert for one-lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. He notes some delays are possible during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the work.
The asphalt paving at both of these locations on U.S. 60 in Livingston County depends on the weather.
