Princeton Man Killed In Shooting, Teen Charged With Murder

A man was killed during a reported altercation on Mechanic Street in Princeton Saturday night.
Princeton Police Chief Chris King reports that officers responded to the report shortly after 9:45 in the 800 block of Mechanic Street. Upon arrival, he says officers found the victim, 42-year old Gregory Cain on the front porch of a residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Chief King says Cain was transported by EMS to the emergency room at Caldwell County Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
According to Chief King, the suspect, 18-year old Ashton Logan Ocampo of Princeton was taken into custody around 10:20 after officers were told by dispatch he was at the post office and wanted to turn himself in. Ocampo was taken to the Princeton Police Department where he was interviewed and allegedly confessed.
Ocampo was charged with murder and lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
