A local student and Fredonia native, Ellie McGowan, recently completed the Murray State University Congressman James Comer Congressional Agriculture Fellowship Program in Comer’s Washington D.C. office.
During her time, according to Comer’s office, McGowan answered constituent inquiries, assisted in daily operations of the office, and researched legislative issues impacting Kentucky’s agriculture industry.
In a statement, Congressman Comer thanked McGowan for her dedicated service this summer to Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District. He went on to say her drive to learn and assist his staff helped ensure their operations addressed the issues impacting Kentuckians. Comer added that McGowan has a bright future ahead of her, and he looks forward to seeing her achievements.
McGowan said she is honored and thankful for her experience working with Congressman Comer and his staff this summer in Washington D.C. She added that it was an unforgettable experience allowing her to learn more about the agriculture industry from a legislative and policy perspective — something that she had not had complete exposure to previously. McGowan said she will forever be grateful for this experience and she looks forward to using the knowledge she learned in her future endeavors.
McGowan, a Caldwell County resident and graduate of Crittenden County High School, is reportedly pursuing a degree in Agriculture Business from Murray State University. She is a fan of videography, serves as Murray State’s Student Government Association President, and was a Kentucky FFA State Officer.
