In honor of National Health Center Week which runs from August 7 – August 13, Community Health Centers (CHCs) are hosting a Patient Appreciation Day at each of their centers around the area.
Marketing and Outreach Director Jenna Jerger of CHC says in a release the event in Princeton will be Thursday afternoon, August 11, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Community Health Center located at 1100 South Jefferson Street.
CHC will be celebrating with free sweet treats from Rolling Cones. Plus, the patients that stop by can take a spin on the prize wheel for an opportunity to win some Health First gear.
In addition, COVID-19 Test Kits will be available with a limit of 2 kits per household. These rapid antigen tests give results in a few minutes and do not need to be dropped off at a laboratory.
Jerger says Community Health Centers have been key to ensuring everyone can access affordable, quality healthcare, during and beyond the pandemic. Community Health Centers are locally run yet part of a national network serving nearly 29 million people nationwide. The health centers reportedly save American taxpayers $24 billion a year in health care costs by preventing and managing chronic diseases.
Community Health Centers, according to Jerger, are not ordinary medical clinics; they are also problem-solvers who reach beyond the exam room to care for the whole person by providing access to necessities like food and housing resources. She indicates Community Health Centers care for everyone, regardless of insurance status. As unemployment rises and more Americans lose their employee-sponsored health care, Community Health Centers will be the key to keeping America healthy.
