Three Caldwell Students Attend Governor’s Scholars Program

Three seniors at Caldwell County High School have just returned from the Governor’s Scholars Program where they spent several weeks of the summer at a university in Kentucky.
Any high school junior is invited to participate as long as you live in Kentucky and have passed the standardized test. Once they were accepted into the program they are randomly assigned a University to attend. Each student decides an area they would like to study and then is assigned to classes in their chosen field. Each day they are assigned 3 classes to attend consisting of general studies, their focus group, and a seminar class. The seminar group is designed where the class sits in a circle and discussed various topics including diversity, values, future and personal growth.
17-year old Rachel McClung, daughter of Sonia & Aaron McClung, said the GSP program is a 5-week residential summer program for outstanding students who just completed their junior year of high school.
