The City of Marion has announced that the distribution of bottled water will end Friday evening, September 2, at 6:00.
City officials indicate several factors have contributed to a reduced need for bottled water:
– Current water supply at Old City Lake
– The quantity of water provided by the Crittenden-Livingston Water District
– Lifting of the Boil Water Advisory
Officials say the city will maintain a substantial supply of bottled water in reserve in case there is a need for it in the future. If the City should experience another boil water advisory or another issue, officials say the bottled water distribution center can reopen on short notice.
Marion continues to be in a State 3 water conservation order. City officials ask residents to continue to conserve water by limiting use. Washing cars and filling swimming pools are still prohibited at this time.
City officials also expressed their gratitude to all of the volunteers who came out to distribute bottled water, which they added would not have been possible without their help.
