Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital Madisonville recently honored 96-year old Dale Faughn from Fredonia after he donated his 36th gallon of blood through the hospital’s blood bank.
Hospital officials said in a social media post that Faughn has been donating blood at the hospital since 1975. In 2017, Faughn was officially named the Guinness World Record holder as the oldest active blood donor, a title he still proudly holds. Faughn was also a United States Marine, a poet and a teacher.
Hospital officials said Faughn embodies service over self and believes in giving what he can to help others. Dr. Justin Sedlak, medical director of Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville Laboratory Services presented the award to Faughn.
