A Princeton man was arrested on multiple charges after he fled from police on a bicycle that was reported stolen.
Around 11:30 Wednesday morning, Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison says officers observed a male, later identified as 31-year old William Abbott, on Varmintrace Road on a bicycle that was reported stolen on August 25. When officers attempted to stop Abbott, he fled and abandoned the bicycle before trying to enter a residence through a back door but was unsuccessful. He reportedly fled from officers again and was taken into custody shortly before 1:00.
Abbott was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail for receiving stolen property, second-degree fleeing and evading police on foot, and two counts of second-degree criminal trespassing.
