The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned several indictments from the September 2 session including charges of criminal abuse, theft and wanton endangerment.
A true bill for first-degree criminal abuse was returned on 63-year old Emma Jean Hoskins of Dawson Springs. The indictment alleges that between December 6, 2018 and June 30, 2021, Hoskins permitted another person in her custody to be abused and thereby caused torture, cruel confinement or cruel punishment to a person who was mentally helpless. Hoskins was taken into custody on a warrant by Princeton Police officers in March after an investigation by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
31-year old Joshua E. Pavey of Princeton was indictedon first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree persistent felony offender charges. Pavey was arrested on July 11 after Princeton Police officers responded to the area of Mechanic and Garrett streets at 9:00 that night regarding a small child unattended in the roadway that witnesses told police was almost struck by a vehicle. Officers reportedly made contact with the child and an investigation revealed the father, Pavey, was responsible for the care of the child. Police say the investigation also determined that Pavey was under the influence of intoxicants and was unaware the child had left the residence.
39-year old Joshua I. Fowler of Princeton was indicted on charges of theft by unlawful taking $1,000 under $10,000 and second-degree persistent felony offender. Fowler was arrested by Princeton Police in June in connection to a vehicle that was stolen from the parking lot of First Baptist Church. Officers recovered the vehicle and returned it to the owner after Fowler told them where the car could be located.
A true bill was returned on 39-year old Jeremy A. McWaters of Princeton on charges of first-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking $1,000 under $10,000. According to the indictment, between January 21, 2021 and August 5, 2021, McWaters caused $1,000 in damage to someone else’s property.
