Kentucky State Police Investigating Lyon County Collision

An Indiana man was flown to an out-of-state hospital after a commercial vehicle overturned on US 641 in Lyon County Tuesday morning.
Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 1 responded to the wreck in the 3000 block of US 641 around 9:00. The initial investigation indicates that 43-year old Corey Bridges was operating a 2014 Volvo commercial vehicle loaded with gravel when it dropped off the right shoulder of the roadway. Bridges reportedly overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to exit the right side of the road a second time. The vehicle then struck a ditch, overturned, and came to rest on the vehicle’s roof, causing the gravel to spill onto the roadway.
According to state police, Bridges was extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means and flown to a hospital in Indiana for treatment of injuries. Troopers report Bridges was wearing his seatbelt.
State police were assisted on the scene by Lyon County EMS, Eddyville Fire Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
The investigation is ongoing by state police.
