Princeton City Council approved the 2022 property tax rates on the second reading and the mayor signed a Constitution Week Proclamation at Monday night’s meeting.
The council unanimously set the tax levy of 16.9 cents on each $100 of taxable real property and 17.38 cents on each $100 of taxable personal property, which Mayor Kota Young noted was the same as last year’s property tax rates.
click to download audioAll property taxes which are paid November 1, 2022, through November 30, 2022, will be given a 2% discount. All ad valorem city taxes for 2022 will be collected by the Caldwell County Sheriff.
Mayor Young noted that another ordinance on Monday night’s agenda regarding the re-certification of streets will hopefully be on the agenda at the next meeting.

In other new business, Maggie Gammon with the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presented a Constitution Week Proclamation to Mayor Young.

During the mayor’s comments, Young expressed his gratitude to the Princeton Optimist Club for a successful Black Patch Heritage Festival.
click to download audioIn addition, Mayor Young thanked all of the departments that contribute to the festival each year, including the Princeton Police Department, Public Works, and Princeton Fire Department.
