Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved the library board tax rates and all other tax rates collected by the city and county for 2022-2023.
Magistrates approved the library board tax rates for real property of 6.3 cents per $100 of assessed value, and 8.56 cents per $100 for tangible property.
County Clerk Toni Watson also presented magistrates with the tax rates for the county which are set at 10.0 for real property per $100 and 11.5 cents for tangible property per $100, along with the tax rates for other entities.

At the meeting, Judge-Executive Larry Curling also welcomed interim jailer, Boyd Bates, who said the staff at the Caldwell County Jail has helped him with the transition into the position.
click to download audioDuring reports, Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin said he’s not sure what they are going to do about getting people to sign up for the new emergency notification alert system Hyper-Reach. As of 8:00 Tuesday morning, he said less than 700 people had signed up to receive Hyper-Reach alerts, compared to approximately 6,000 who were signed up for CodeRed alerts. He encouraged residents to sign up for Hyper-Reach and take some responsibility to be aware if there is inclement weather.
