Caldwell County Clerk Announces General Election Voting Details


We are just weeks away from the November general election and there are several dates and deadlines you need to know about if you plan to cast a ballot.
To request an absentee ballot, Caldwell County Clerk Toni Watson said you can call her office or go to the portal — govote.ky.gov or govoteky.com — before October 25th. She said there are only certain reasons you can request an absentee ballot.

On October 25th, emergency medical ballots will be available.


click to download audioOctober 26th, 27th, and 28th, are the days for excused in-person absentee voting in the clerk’s office on the main floor of the courthouse from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.


click to download audioNovember 3rd, 4th, and 5th are the days set aside for no excuse in-person absentee voting in the basement of the vote center at the Caldwell County Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, which Watson explained can only be open 8 hours each of these days due to state legislators.


click to download audioShe noted there will not be any voting on Monday, November 7th, the day before the general election, unless it’s some kind of medical emergency.
On election day, Tuesday, November 8th, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a precinct in Fredonia, Donaldson, and Bucksnort with all other precincts casting votes at the courthouse.


click to download audioWith parking an issue during the primary election, Watson said Judge-Executive Larry Curling has agreed to close the courthouse on election day, Tuesday, November 8th, and no employees will be there. In addition, she noted they will have some parking spots reserved with cones and signs for excused voting and early voting.
