Caldwell County Schools Receive 2021-22 KSA School Report Card

Caldwell County Schools received its school report card for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) Data for the 2021-2022 school year on Tuesday.
Public Relations Coordinator Lizzie Shelton says Caldwell County Elementary School, Caldwell Middle School, and Caldwell County High School all participated in the Kentucky Summative Assessment testing during the Spring of 2022.
According to school officials, Caldwell County Schools KSA test scores align with the state scores. District test scores have improved compared to the 2020-2021 school year. Overall, officials say Caldwell County Schools have a higher number of Proficient and Distinguished students than the state average.
Caldwell County High School reportedly had an increased graduation rate in 2022 and has higher four and five-year graduation rates compared to the state average.
Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach says standardized test scores are just one measure they use to assess how their students are learning and succeeding in the classroom. He noted that KSA scores, along with formative assessments taken throughout the year, are used to guide instruction in the classroom. He added their focus will continue to be on individual student growth and improvement.
Officials say the previous school year provided students with more in-person instruction, but challenges from COVID-19 lingered, including district closures and absences from isolations and quarantines.
2021-2022 was the first year for the new Kentucky Summative Assessment scoring system. KSA changes included combining English Mechanics and Writing into one combined writing score.
