
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department is now collecting payments for property taxes after bills were mailed out Saturday.
Melissa Peek with the sheriff’s department says if you haven’t received your property tax bill in the mail by the end of the week, there are three ways to get the information.
click to download audioIn order to better serve residents, the sheriff’s department has extended its hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in order to collect property tax payments with the exception of some days in November the courthouse will be closed.

click to download audioA few years ago, Peek adds, they combined the city and county property taxes and you only have to write one check and send it or drop it off at the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.
If you have turned 65 years old, you are possibly entitled to a Homestead Exemption on your property taxes.
