Due to the recent wet conditions, Judge Executive Wade White announced Wednesday that the extreme danger of forest fires in Lyon County has slightly subsided and the burn ban has been rescinded. Judge White issued a burn ban by executive order on October 11, which was lifted at 10:00 Wednesday morning.
He says the county is still in a very dry period and he asks citizens to use caution when burning outdoors and abide by the current fall season burn rules set in Kentucky that continue through December 15th. During this time, state law makes it illegal for anyone to start a fire within 150 feet of any woods or brush line between the hours of 6 am to 6 pm. After 6 pm, a fire should only be started if the conditions are suitable to keep it under control.
