School officials are inviting all local veterans to attend the Veterans Day program at Caldwell County Elementary School on Friday. They say the small ceremony is to thank and honor all veterans for their service.
The ceremony will begin at 7:40 Friday morning with a light breakfast to follow in the cafeteria at the elementary school.
Students have been asked to invite veterans that are close to them, and those students will be allowed to eat breakfast with the veteran(s) they invite. School officials stress that the breakfast is only for veterans and students.
Those veterans planning on staying for breakfast will need to contact the school office to make reservations by the end of the day Wednesday, November 9th, by calling 270-365-8030.
School officials indicate a campus-wide Veterans Day parade will follow the breakfast. Anyone needing additional information about the campus parade can contact Lizzie Shelton at the board of education at 270-365-8038.
The annual Veterans Day Program will be held on the steps at the front of the Caldwell County Courthouse at 11:00 Friday morning to honor all military veterans.
