After more than two decades of conducting elections and overseeing other county business, Caldwell County Clerk Toni Watson will be retiring at the end of this year with her daughter, Jennifer Watson Hale, stepping into the position after winning the primary election and facing no opposition in the general election.
During Tuesday’s election coverage prior to counting the write-in votes, Watson poked a little fun at herself and also expressed her appreciation for the community’s support during her 29-year career as county clerk.

Having served 44 years in government, Watson is the second longest-running county clerk in Kentucky with 29 of those years in her current position.
