On Tuesday, Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield declared November 24, 2022 as “Live Like Logan Day” in Hopkins County to honor Logan McKnight who was killed in a tragic wreck in Caldwell County last year.
According to the proclamation, Logan was a bright, young Hopkins County resident who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He graduated from Dawson Springs High School in 2021, and during his studies was class president, participated in basketball, baseball, and track and was a percussionist in the school band.
Judge Whitfield’s proclamation went on to say they are grateful to acknowledge the substantial contribution Logan has made to Hopkins County as a great example of a son, brother, grandson, nephew, teammate, friend and young man.
On the night of November 23, 2021, McKnight and two other teens were reportedly en route to watch a boys’ basketball scrimmage in Cadiz when they were involved in a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Kentucky Highways 91 and 672, about 9 miles southeast of Princeton.
McKnight was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he succumbed to his injuries on November 24, 2021. The other two teens, 18-year old Landon Pace, who graduated from Dawson Springs High School in May 2021, and 16-year old Tyler Hale were also injured in the wreck and taken to local hospitals and treated for injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, 31-year old Michael Lipson of Princeton, was also injured in the crash and taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville for treatment.
Multiple clergy and counselors were at the school in the days following the fatal accident with prayer vigils held for the teens and their families.
On November 24, Hopkins County Government urges all citizens to “live like Logan,” and brighten our corner of Western Kentucky the same way he did.
