Fredonia officials have announced the date and theme of next weekend’s Christmas parade along with the grand marshals selected to lead the annual event.
Michelle Travis says the parade will be held at 6:00 Friday evening, December 2nd. This year’s theme is “Hometown Christmas”.
According to Travis, lifelong residents of Fredonia, Steve and Pam Faughn have been selected to serve as grand marshals. Steve is the son of Dale Faughn and the late Virginia Faughn, and Pam is the daughter of Dot Rogers and the late Buddy Rogers, who spent a lifetime being involved in all aspects of Fredonia life, particularly the ballpark named in his honor.
Through the years, she indicates the couple has been involved in many community organizations and community activities. To name a few, she says Pam helped organize the first T-Ball league in Fredonia, worked concession stands for several years at ball games, and provided games for kids at the summer festival for many years. Travis says Steve coached T-ball and other teams, was a long-time past member of the Fredonia Lions Club, has helped with community activities, and has worked at the summer festival for many years.
In recent years, following their retirement, Travis says the couple has been busy staying involved with their community in various ways.
Travis says the couple is very involved in their church, First Baptist of Fredonia, which sponsors several community events they participate in. Steve is a trustee, a member of Men of Mission, and the Expanded Ministries Committee. Pam serves as the church secretary, works in the sound system, and provides programs for the Women on Mission group.
She says the Faughns consider themselves very blessed to live in the Fredonia Valley surrounded by family and friends. Travis adds they enjoy serving the hometown they love.
