LG&E And KU To Close All Business Offices By End Of 2024

Louisville Gas & Electric (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities Company (KU) recently announced the utilities have decided to close their 26 business offices across their service territories by the end of 2024. Officials said in a news release they made the decision after careful evaluation — and due to a decline in walk-in transactions, increased customer use of self-service channels, and best practice among similar utilities.
The closures are expected to occur in phases, with all to close no later than the end of 2024. Officials indicate they will be using various communications channels to provide customers with more information as it becomes available.
For customers who want to pay their bill in person, officials indicate many retail locations including Kroger and Walmart, accept payments on behalf of the KG&E and KU.
Officials added customers can still mail their payment at no additional cost using the return envelope provided in their monthly bill.
Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company are part of the PPL Corporation. According to its website, LG&E serves 333,000 natural gas and 429,000 electric customers in Louisville and 16 surrounding counties, while KU serves 566,000 electric customers in 77 Kentucky counties and five counties in Virginia.
