The Princeton Rotary Club is asking area high school students to consider being a part of its annual Speech Contest this year.
Dr. Melissa Earnest with the charitable organization says the contest is open to high school students, grades 9 through 12.
click to download audioRotary Club member Geneva Malone says the topic of this year’s Speech Contest is “Imagine Rotary”, which Dr. Earnest added was chosen by Jennifer Jones, the president of the International Rotary. Dr. Earnest also offered some advice for any students who may have a difficult time writing a speech about “Imagine Rotary.”

click to download audioShe says information about the Speech Contest is distributed by guidance counselors at area public schools along with Steffani Burton who sees that any interested students who are home-schooled are included. In addition, she noted Paulette Gray has helped distribute information to students in Dawson Springs.
Malone says the club selects three members of the community to judge the speeches submitted by students.

click to download audioAnd this year, the local club is excited because Dr. Earnest says the Sectional Speech Contest will be held at the Majestic House in Princeton.
