Caldwell County Paving Committee Chairman Jeff Simms says he has had conversations with several state officials about safety concerns regarding Kentucky 139 South.
He said those conversations involved Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Deputy Secretary and Princeton native, Mike Hancock, District 2 Chief Engineer Deneatra Henderson, and District 1 Chief Engineer Kyle Poat.
Simms said a lot of the trucks that have been lost on KY 139 South are from out-of-state and not familiar with the area. However, he added KY 139 South is too narrow and the shoulders are too steep. And, of course, anytime there is a wreck or issue on Interstate 24, KY 139 South is used as a detour route, which Simms noted they have tried to change and may be in the planning stages.
Simms said his goal is simply to have some white lines added on the edges of the roadway on KY 139 South.
