The official start to the 2023 tax filing season was last week although the state income taxes won’t be processed until February 6 which means most federal refunds will arrive well ahead of state refunds.
The Kentucky Department of Revenue said they began accepting electronically filed 2022 individual income tax returns on Monday, January 23 which mirrored the IRS tax filing timeline.
Electronic individual income tax returns typically take four to six weeks to process.
The deadline for taxpayers to file 2022 tax returns is Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
