This week Caldwell County Schools have been celebrating Family Resource Youth Services Center Coordinator Appreciation, or FRYSC, Week.
This week, the school district highlighted a few of its programs and services.
Theresa Ray, with the Youth Service Center, explained the difference between the Family Resource Center and the Youth Services Center.
click to download audioSchool officials say the HOPE Center works closely with The Salvation Army, Happy Feet Program, Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS), Operation Giving Tree, Joseph’s Storage Bin, Rotary Club Build a Bed, and Feeding America to ensure the students have what they need to be successful in school.
So far this year, school officials indicate the HOPE Center has made referrals or assisted families 27 times with sports fees, distributed weekend backpacks to 40 students, assisted with household items 16 times, which includes beds from build a bed, helped with utilities 5 times, head lice 40 times, vision/eyeglasses 7 times and provided shoes 61 times since school started whereas 234 students district-wide received a pair of new shoes during the Happy Feet event on August 13th. In addition, 129 students district-wide received Christmas assistance from community sponsors.
According to Ray, they need earbuds for the middle school Tiger Time held during the 4th period.
