Tommy Dunning/Caldwell County Jail mugshot

A Princeton man charged in the November 2021 death of his girlfriend appeared in Caldwell County Circuit Court for a pretrial conference last week.
Tommy Dunning was indicted by a Caldwell County grand jury in January of 2022 in connection to the death of Ursula Hamlet.
At his appearance Friday morning, Judge Jamus Redd continued Dunning’s case and set another pretrial conference for April 4th.
Dunning is accused of shooting Hamlet at a home on Coleman Crider Road on November 22, 2021 during what state police said was some kind of altercation. Detectives said Hamlet was found inside the home with a single gunshot wound to her neck. She was pronounced deceased on the scene by Caldwell County Coroner Dewayne Trafford.
Dunning remains lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
