Ft. Campbell Military Members Busy Across The World

101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Deputy Commanding General Brigadier General John Lubas

The 2023 Eagle Ambassador Breakfast, held by the Christian County Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee, served as an update as to what Ft. Campbell soldiers have done overseas over the last year.
101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Deputy Commanding General Brigadier General John Lubas provided the update Wednesday morning.
Lubas said he returned home Monday evening from Poland.

Of course, Lubas couldn’t share many details of the recent deployment but said he is proud of the work being done.

As Your News Edge reported last month, members of the 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment returned to Fort Campbell, from a nine-month deployment as part of the United States Central Command.

Additionally, last summer, elements of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, and 101st Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) were assigned to carry out a nine-month mission in Europe.
The first such deployment to that area in over 80 years.

He added they have been able to train members of the Slovakian, Hungarian, Romanian, and Bulgarian divisions and brigades.
Lubas said the 2nd Brigade Combat Team represented the bulk of the combat power in Europe.

He said they are committed to helping fight Russian aggression in that region and all the forces in Europe are prepared to transition to combat operations, if the combat were to escalate onto NATO soil.
Fort Campbell’s “STRIKE” team has participated in over 23 named exercises at the company level and above over the last eight months.
More soldiers will be returning home in the coming months.

Before his update to those in attendance Wednesday, Brigadier General Lubas was introduced by his wife, Deb Lubas.
The breakfast was held at the James E. Bruce Convention Center and sponsored by Fortera Credit Union. The event served as a thank-you to the nearly 120 Eagle Ambassador businesses and families in 2021 and 2022.
