The Princeton Optimist Club held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night at the Majestic House. The meeting saw several groups in the community attending to receive donations to help them with their activities.
The Caldwell County Tennis Team led by Senior Cannon Littlejohn accepted a check to help them with their upcoming season.
The Optimist Club purchased a sign to be placed at the Fredonia ballpark and Donnie Conway was there to receive the payment for a two-year commitment for an Optimist sign for the ball field.
Caldwell County Band Booster President Rachel Cummins and several members of the high school band were present to pick up a donation to help sponsor the Follies to be held this weekend.
Caldwell Regional Career Center HOSA advisor Lori Conway lead a group of students to accept a donation to help them attend the state HOSA Convention to be held in Louisville later this month.
Caldwell Soccer Association President Hailey Jones and a group of players and parents were present to receive a check to assist the Strikers to prepare for their upcoming season.
Blair Knight and representatives from the Fredonia Riding Club received a donation for operational expenses to support their programs for the year.
Optimist Club President George Kilgore also recently presented members of the Caldwell County Wrestling Team with a donation to assist them with expenses as they competed in the state tournament.
Caldwell County Track Coach Steve Shaw accepted a check to place the Optimist name and emblem on a banner to be used at the team competition this year. He also spoke to the club about the success and increase in the number of members of the Track Team. He shared some upcoming plans and needs for the program which the club will be considering help with in the future.
Each of the groups took time to thank the club for their support of their individual programs and expressed their appreciation for the donations. All donations made by the Princeton Optimist Club are the result of the success of the annual Optimist Club Radio Auction.
Roy Gene Rogers informed the club that the Wes York Memorial Vocational Scholarship application was completed and will be available at the Caldwell Career Center soon. The club also heard requests from other groups and will be making more presentations later this month.
The Optimist Club’s regular meetings are on the last Tuesday of the month at the Majestic House. They will be holding a special meeting on Thursday, March 16th at 5:00 pm to work on the upcoming radio auction.
