Caldwell County Ag Agent Shane Bogle says the Caldwell-Lyon Cattleman’s Association will be meeting tonight at 6:00. He says the meeting will be held at the Caldwell County Extension Office with several items of business to discuss, including a new record-keeping program.
click to download audioBogle invites all current cattlemen and any interested parties who want to join the Caldwell-Lyon Cattleman’s Association to attend tonight’s (Friday night’s) meeting, where rib-eye sandwiches will be served and registration forms will be available with a yearly fee of $30, including four steak dinners.
He also announced this month’s topic for the Small Diversified Farm has been canceled because they are dealing with the Avian Influenza potential with a case recently found in Kentucky. He noted farms are being monitored very closely by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and UK.
click to download audioBogle explained the meeting was postponed because one thing that ag officials have said is that poultry producers and “backyard folks” shouldn’t visit other farms, which he noted includes meetings about poultry.
According to Bogle, commercial poultry facilities are being watched very closely which has a big impact in Kentucky, because poultry is the state’s number one industry.
He also announced the Integrated Pest Management program will be held in Hopkinsville on Thursday, March 9th with registration required for in-person attendees or those online.
