Princeton Police saw an increase in injury wrecks and traffic violations in 2022 compared to the previous year and a decrease in felony and misdemeanor arrests.
Chief Chris King recently presented the Princeton Police Department’s annual report to the city council which showed 242 vehicle collisions in 2022, 4 fewer than in 2021. Additionally, there was one fatality reported last year compared to 3 the previous year, while the number of injuries rose by 2 to 22.
In 2022, Police made 213 felony arrests, a decrease of 103 from the previous year, along with 353 misdemeanor arrests, which was lower than the 399 arrests made in 2021.
The report reveals a surge in traffic violations, with 470 in 2022 compared to just 275 from the year prior.
Officers assisted 166 motorists in 2022, a decrease of 20 from the previous year.
The number of verbal warnings issued by officers in 2022 rose dramatically, with 799 given out compared to only 472 in 2021, while written warnings increased from 12 to 51.
The number of officer assists rose from 2,351 in 2021 to 2,674 in 2022, while calls for service declined from 4,999 in 2021 to 4,007 in 2022.
