Caldwell Career Center Welders Are Headed To State Competition


Members of the Caldwell Regional Career Center welding class competed in the regional welding contest held at Madisonville Community College.
The group returned with 8 students qualifying to move on to state competition. Instructor Mickey Bayer shared that 8 is the maximum number of students a single school can send and he is excited to have that many qualify.
Potter Gray won the general welding contest and is looking forward to seeing the other competitors at the State level.

Trayton Freeman came in 2nd in Welding One. He enjoys welding and is excited about the state contest.

Caden Cunningham will be competing in sculpture welding and got his inspiration from his love of hunting.


click to download audioBen Bannister is also in sculpture welding and his entry is based on his interest in dinosaurs.


click to download audioLandon Davis, Isaac Lane, and Trevor Eifler made up the team entering Fabrication Welding. Instructor Bayer explained this team was given a print to interpret and had to build the project from their view of the print without any previous knowledge. Davis is thankful for the support he has been given and looking forward to the state contest.

click to download audioAccording to Bayer the vehicle extension the team made for the competition is for sale for $100.00 to help with the expenses for the upcoming state contest.
The group will be attending the Skills USA State Conference and competition to be held in April at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Louisville.
