Beshear Says Kentucky Mourns ‘Children of God’ Lost In Fort Campbell Training Crash

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear told Fort Campbell officials Thursday morning that the entire Commonwealth grieves with the families of the nine soldiers killed in Wednesday night’s training accident that involved a pair of Blackhawk helicopters in Trigg County.
Beshear was on post Thursday morning and spoke at a press conference alongside Brigadier General John Lubas, the deputy commander for the 101st Airborne Division.
The Governor called those soldiers lost “children of God.”

Beshear went on to say that Kentucky will wrap its arms around those grieving.

The two helicopters were in the Maple Grove Road area of western Trigg County when they crashed in a field around 9:35 pm.
The Governor credited the quick response of multiple agencies who went to the scene.

Brigadier General Lubas said the helicopters were medical evacuation aircraft conducting drills when the crash occurred.
