Funeral services for 85-year old Philip E. Phelps, of Princeton, will be Thursday afternoon, April 13, at noon at Fredonia First Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery in Caldwell County.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, and beginning at 10:00 Thursday morning at the church.
Phelps passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born on December 13, 1937, in Caldwell County to his late father, Marion Edward Phelps, and his late mother, Henrietta Josephine Prowell Phelps. He was a very devoted and faithful member of Fredonia First Baptist Church and was the owner of Druther’s Restaurants in Princeton and Marion. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He was also known as a Tiger “Super Fan” and was a huge supporter of all local athletes, especially the Tiger football team where he attended 423 straight football games over 37 years. Philip was inducted into the Caldwell County Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pam Bullock Phelps; three sons, Jeffery “Todd” (Karen) Phelps of Fredonia, Curtis E. “Curt” (Cara) Phelps and Brad (Jayme) Harralson of Princeton; sister, Wanda Beck of Kuttawa; grandchildren, David Phelps, Michael Phelps, Leigha (Kevin) McMullen, Mandy (Curt) Phelps Martin, Adrianne (Cody) Phelps Travis, Rainie Phelps, Taylor Phelps, Whitney Peck, Brooke Phelps, Mitchell Harralson and Madison Harralson, and eleven great-grandchildren.
