When we think of everyday heroes, it’s easy to conjure images of police, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and our military. But there are also those who are not out in the public on a daily basis, yet provide a vital service to the community. Caldwell County telecommunicators are the first people to be called when someone needs help or there is an emergency, and rightly deserve the title of everyday heroes.
This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time set aside to recognize the individuals dedicated to communities across the nation and locally.
Shirley Gray, the interim director of the Pennyrile Emergency Assistance Center in Caldwell County, says that their 8 full-time and 2 part-time dispatchers are highly trained and prepared to handle any emergency situation.
