Mayor Thomas Provides Council Update About City-County Park Repairs


At Monday night’s Princeton City Council meeting, Mayor Brock Thomas announced that repairs are ongoing at the City-County Park to get it ready to open for the summer.
Mayor Thomas informed the council that repairs are being made to the concession stand, and some emergency lights, with more work being done to the swimming pool.

Councilwoman Sheila Gates inquired about the state of the tennis courts and fence at the park, to which Mayor Thomas replied they are considering replacing the courts with Pickleball courts.


click to download audioMayor Thomas expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming summer season at the City-County Park, noting that Judge-Executive Kota Young is also interested in ensuring the park is restored to where it needs to be.
In new business, City Attorney Todd Wetzel explained the renewal of the Atmos franchise agreement to the council, which he noted the current agreement does not expire until December.


click to download audioThe council unanimously approved a motion to authorize the city attorney to proceed with the drafting of an ordinance granting the renewal of the franchise with Atmos for 10 years.
In other action, council members unanimously approved an executive order request from the Public Works Department declaring one John Deer 925 Ztrac mower as surplus property and donating it to the City-County Park.
The council also heard reports and updates from Public Works, Alcohol Beverage Control, the Princeton-Caldwell County Airport Board, and Planning Commission.
